Backup fixes, plus a few workshop quality-of-life touches.

Backups

• Component pricing (purchase and resale) and a project's labour & quote settings are now included in backups. These were saved in the app but silently left out of exports, so restoring a backup lost them. If you keep older backups, re-export them from this version to capture these fields.
• The restore dialog now shows a backup's provenance — which app, version, and system created it — making it easier to tell backups apart and to get help if a restore looks wrong.

Projects

• Right-click a part in a project's Parts list for two new actions: View in Inventory (jump straight to that component) and Copy Name.
• Drag captures onto a project in the sidebar to file them there — the same drag-and-drop you already use for Library files and inventory parts.

Sync captures from anywhere — not just a FNIRSI scope.

Sync Locations

• Benchwave no longer ships a hardcoded FNIRSI 2D15P scope integration. Instead, add any drive or folder as a Sync Location — a scope's USB share, an SD card, a camera, or a folder you drop screenshots into — and Benchwave imports its images into your Library.
• Removable drives are detected automatically on plug-in, with a one-time macOS permission grant per drive; auto-sync on connect is opt-in per location.
• Choose to scan the whole drive/folder or just a subfolder. Sync New imports fresh captures, Full Resync re-imports everything; captures are matched by content, so re-syncing never makes duplicates.
• A universal connection indicator (status bar + menu bar) and per-location dots show what's connected, needs permission, or isn't plugged in — with one-click Grant Access.
• Picking a whole system/startup drive warns you first (it can be a big scan) but doesn't block you — the sync itself is cancellable, off the main thread, and confirms before importing a large batch (1,000+ files).

Devices

• Devices is now reserved for instruments Benchwave talks to directly over a protocol — today, the FNIRSI LCR-P1 firmware flasher. Live SCPI instrument support is coming soon.

Elsewhere

• Manual and localization updated for the new Sync Locations / Devices split (English and Polish).

Interface

• The sidebar now runs seamlessly to the top of the window — the title-bar divider is gone.
• New window translucency: the sidebar and canvas take on a subtle, active-aware blur of what's behind the window. Prefer solid backgrounds? Turn it off in Settings → General → Appearance.
• Content panels are now rounded cards, so they sit cleanly on the translucent background.

The first public release of Benchwave — the private, native macOS companion for your electronics bench. Everything runs locally on your Mac: no account, no cloud, no tracking.

Devices

• Connect FNIRSI instruments over USB — Benchwave detects them automatically, after a one-time macOS access prompt.
• Sync scope screenshots automatically, or on demand with Sync New and Full Resync.
• Manage on-device storage: list files, delete individual screenshots, or Wipe All; eject safely before unplugging.
• Firmware updates for the 2D15P scope — checks the latest published build and stages it onto the device.
• Experimental LCR-P1 firmware flashing over USB — the first updater for it outside Windows.

Library & captures

• A gallery of every synced capture, with a full, resizable viewer window.
• Compare two or more captures side by side.
• On supported Macs, read on-screen measurements from a capture (OCR) and summarise it.

Inventory

• Track components with quantity, unit, location, datasheets, low-stock thresholds and an automatic status.
• Curated, persistent lists for categories, subcategories, manufacturers, locations and bins, with type-ahead entry and a Manage sheet — renames and deletes propagate across every part.
• Import from a workshop JSON export or a forgiving CSV; export the whole parts list back to JSON.
• Per-part photo, datasheet, manual and shopping link, plus optional purchase and resell prices.

Projects

• Bundle captures, parts, files and notes for each thing you build or repair.
• Build a bill of materials from shared inventory with per-project quantities — drag parts in, or import a BOM CSV.
• Adding parts allocates stock and flags shortfalls; export a Shopping List CSV of exactly what's left to buy.
• Attach datasheets, PDFs and images and mark them up — arrows, notes, freehand, eraser and OCR — without altering the original. Each project keeps its own markup overlay on a shared file.

Branded exports

• Set your business name, logo, contact details, currency and VAT rate in Settings.
• Export a branded Project Sheet, or a customer Quote — resell prices only, optional VAT, itemised or combined.

Elsewhere

• Fully localized in English and Polish.
• Automatic database snapshots on every launch, plus full Backup / Restore to a single .zip.
• The Direct (DMG) build updates itself via Sparkle; a Mac App Store build is planned.
